Paris Fashion Week AW14/15: Begins

As day one of Paris Fashion Week AW14/15 comes to a close, Paris is again alight with the world of fashion.

The season marks Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut for Louis Vuitton. He will show his first collection as the Artistic Director of women’s fashion. The debut represents a new chapter for Louis Vuitton, moving forward from Marc Jacobs’ departure after a 16-year term with the house. Louis Vuitton will show their collection at 10am (CET) on Wednesday 5 March.

In another first, Alessandro Dell’Acqua will show his first collection as the Creative Director of Rochas at 5pm (CET) on Wednesday 26 February.

Highlights of day one include Cédric Charlier and Christine Phung. Cédric Charlier’s confident collection featured subtle animal textures and prints across pants, jackets and skirts. The shimmering facade of skirts references the scale surface of reptiles. Christine Phung truly embraced the notion of the winter season with a collection that brought elements of skiwear to Ready to Wear. A vibrant digital print of mountains was applied to jackets and skirts. Dresses were worn with thick leggings. Heightening the concept, models wore ski goggles and walked the runway with pairs of skis in hand.
