Villa Noailles: Design Parade 9

Design Parade returns to the hills of Hyéres, France for its ninth edition at the Villa Noailles modernist house.

In a manner similar to its International Festival of Fashion and Photography, Design Parade brings together a series of exhibitions from notable designers alongside an international emerging designer competition.

Dutch design duo, Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings will present a selection of works. Their exhibition, titled Over the Rainbow, includes recent and unseen editions, such as Luce Di Carrara marble tables, Strap Chair for Moustache, Dot Chair for HAY and Shift Cabinet for Pastoe. The science of colours that characterises their work infuses the swimming pool at Villa Noailles. This colour palette has been created especially for the exhibition and takes its inspiration from the landscape and the surrounding sky.

As part of an ongoing exhibition series each year during Design Parade, the Villa Noailles invites a leading figure from the world of design to select recent works according to a theme. This edition Marie-Claude Beaud, the director of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco has curated the exhibition. She has chosen to work with the German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic and to reunite nine of his former assistants. Each of his past assistants has contributed an object that they consider shares a bond with Grcic.

Design Parade 9 runs from Friday 4 – Sunday 6 July at Villa Noailles in Hyéres, France. The exhibitions will remain on display until Sunday 28 September 2014.
