D’Angelo: New Album Titled Black Messiah

After 14 years, D’Angelo releases his new album Black Messiah with a louder, heavier and more political sound.

The album was a highly anticipated release, after D’Angelo hinted at its creation at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York in May this year.

In this new album, D’Angelo has once again cemented his place as one of the revolutionary soul musicians of our generation. By taking influences from country, soul, gospel and flamenco, he has created a loud, soft and powerful album that is a worthy predecessor from his previous, Grammy Award winning work, Voodoo.

From the song Really Love and its flamenco section that leads into jazz guitar and steady beats, to the albums single Sugah Daddy, that includes work from bassist Pino Paladino and James Gadson on drums and a horn section, each of the 12 tracks throughout Black Messiah are both unique and artistically astounding.
