fluoro Giveaway: Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei Experience Pack

fluoro is giving away an exclusive experience pack in celebration of the major international exhibition Andy Warhol | Ai Wewei at National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), opening this December.

The giveaway includes one double pass to Andy Warhol | Ai Wewei exhibition at NGV, two copies of the prestigious hardcover that will accompany the exhibition, and a double pass to the unique and informative lecture series.

In 1962 Andy Warhol first exhibited his iconic Campbell’s Soup Cans at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Thirty-two canvases in a great big block, it was a simple yet emphatic cultural statement on mass production. From then, he was a lynchpin for the ensuing genre of pop art, exploring themes from consumer society, politics, fashion and more. More than 40 years later, Ai Weiwei rose to prominence for his works that commonly raised awareness of the injustices he saw in the world, comments on human rights, and his relentless pursuit for freedom of expression and honesty. In 2000, we saw Weiwei fill the Turbine Hall of the TATE Modern in London with one hundred million handmade porcelain sunflower seeds – another powerful comment on mass production and consumer society.

In 1987, when an inspired Weiwei took a self-portrait in front of Warhol’s self portrait at MoMA, their intersection began, and Warhol became a strong conceptual influence on Weiwei. Though the two artists operated in separate eras, each have left, and continue to leave a great impact on art and society.

Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei at the NGV will see more than 300 works, including Warhol’s most celebrated works and Weiwei’s pivotal pieces, as well as new exclusive installations by Weiwei. The exhibition will survey the scope of both artists’ careers and demonstrate the force, impressiveness and innovation that creative minds are capable of. For an in depth insight into the exhibition, visit Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei.

“I believe this is a very interesting and important exhibition and an honour for me to have the opportunity to be exhibited alongside Andy Warhol. This is a great privilege for me as an artist,” said Weiwei.

This giveaway celebrates what is more than an exhibition, but an extraordinary moment in time which will channel the creativity of two great iconoclasts who have both done much more than merely scrape the surface of their thematic explorations. Both Warhol and Weiwei are change makers and game changers whose work cannot be ignored and will more than likely be remembered for years to come.

This exclusive experience pack includes:

  • A double pass entry into the Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei exhibition at NGV, which opens on Friday 11 December 2015.
  • Two prestigious hardback editions of an original publication created for the exhibition. The publication features a series of essays by international experts and influencers, curators and scholars from the Andy Warhol Museum, Centre Pompidou, MIT and more.
  • A double pass to a lecture series that will expertly delve into important points surrounding the artists, especially how time and place shaped Warhol and Weiwei’s practices, and what legacy they both had on the cities they called home. These ticketed lectures will be held on Saturday afternoons, there will be two per month.

This giveaway has now closed.
