The Next Black

The concept of clothing is on the verge of a dramatic shift. The documentary film The Next Black explores the way that changes in the industry have the potential to transform the way we wear clothes.

The 45-minute documentary looks at the impact of new technologies, innovative fabrics, sustainable manufacturing alongside interviews with some of the industry’s most progressive people. The Next Black highlights the ways that innovative companies are attempting to reverse environmental statistics.

Featured in the film are companies who take pride in their research and sustainable practices including tech-clothing giants Patagonia; Studio XO, who intersect science, technology fashion and music; sportswear icon adidas; Biocouture, a consultancy exploring living organisms to grow clothing and accessories; and Yeh Group, a company that has pioneered a new way to dye clothes using zero water.

The Next Black was conceived by home appliance manufacturer AEG and was produced with production company House of Radon. The Next Black can be viewed in full via fluoro on the right.
