Paris Fashion Week SS15 Menswear: A Wrap Up
Paris Fashion Week SS15 Menswear collections have concluded for another season. fluoro looks to key collections from the final day, which turned to music and sport for their inspiration.
No Editions
The German label presented an SS15 collection that was instilled with music and grunge. Pants were worn rolled up over lace up boots and cropped vests layered over t-shirts. The garments were supported by a live performance from Berlin-based band Suns of Thyme, who also modelled the garments. The label was founded by Christian Niessen and Nicole Lachelle, who described the collection as an organised psychedelia.
Umit Benan
Umit Benan’s SS15 collection took inspiration from the tennis club, with garments that referenced both the game itself and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Models walked the runway – a pop-up tennis court – with leather sport bags in hand, tennis rackets poking out from them. Garments were casual, with bomber jackets layered over hooded jackets and accessorised with caps worn backwards. A minimal graphic print of a tennis court was applied throughout on shorts, jackets and sweatshirts, a logo of the theme.
Saint Laurent
The SS15 collection from Saint Laurent brought the genre of psych-rock to life through the garments. The unisex collection featured Cuban heeled boots worn with skinny jeans, which were belted at the waist. Jackets were crafted from denim, leather, hide and a series of embroidered in the style of the 1960s. A long crochet poncho was a striking conclusion to the collection and was a final gesture to the styles from the psych-rock era. Likewise to the No Editions SS15 presentation, music was central to Hedi Slimane in his Saint Laurent SS15 menswear collection. Los Angeles-based band Mystic Braves composed the music for the presentation.
Menswear collections will return to Paris next year and will take place from Wednesday 21 – Sunday 25 January 2015.
