Paris Fashion Week Ready to Wear AW15/16 : So Far

Paris Fashion Week Ready to Wear AW15/16  is in full swing. We turn our focus to the collections of five key designers for this season.

Pascal Millet

Pascal Millet presented an elegant, feminine collection of chic winter style. The looks featured blazers, skirts, long and short dresses, pants, jumpsuits and over-knee boots with some layers. The colour palette consisted of greys, whites, and navy with touches of pink and animal print. Garments included, fur, chiffon, velvet, and a stroke of leather and sequins.

Ann Demeulemeester

The Ann Demeulemeester collection focused as is expected on sharply defined tailoring and layers. The collection featured garments such as woven wool and soft fabrics contrasted by leather. A heavier focus on art than previously seen for the brand marked the collection through dramatic stripes and prehistoric skeletons. The looks included coats, leather belts, leather boots, and deep necklines sliding down to the limits of the belt-line. The dominant colour was black, with flashed of red and white stripes coming through. Overall the collection was built with rough, rock-inspired looks.

A.F. Vandevorst

A.F. Vandevorst startled visitors by requiring them to wear disposable coveralls and masks upon arrival. As the presentation commenced a live band played while models walked around the crowds giving visitors an almost hands-on experience of the fashion collection. Tailored straight trousers and jackets, long dresses, long skirts, thigh-high boots and long coats featured in the collection alongside band t-shirts. Garments included fur, knits, shiny fabrics and leather. Black dominated.

Lanvin

Lanvin’s AW15/16 Ready to Wear collection featured a diverse colour pallet. Navy and black dominated the collection with shades of brown, cream, and touches of red, mustard, and rose also featuring. Heavy floral prints featured in the collection, which included long dresses, long coats, loose shirts, and loose pants tucked into below-the-knee boots. Several of the looks seemed to be inspired by those of horsemen and women. Garments included leather, fur, silks, chiffon and knits with fringes appearing on many of the looks.

Rick Owens

Rick Owen’s collection, called Sphinx, was another example of the designer’s mixture of artistic expression and viable wardrobe selections. Voluminous blanket-like designs were adorned by metallic sequins and enveloped the body in asymmetrical folds creating a comfortable look. The colours included greys, blacks and olive with strokes of gold.

Paris Fashion Week continues to present significant AW15/16 collections. Stay tuned to fluoro for future updates from Paris.
