São Paulo Fashion Week: Highlights so far

From the richness of fabrics to the movement of garments, fluoro is on ground at São Paulo Fashion Week SS14/15 keeping you informed on innovation and design in Brazil’s booming fashion industry.

A selection of notable collections that have captured fluoro so far include:

Patricia Motta

Patricia Motta’s second presentation at São Paulo Fashion Week captured a confident woman. A vibrant palette was used heavily throughout the collection forming leather skirts and tops. Cut outs provided simple detail to a selection of the leather skirts, while other leather garments featured more intricate floral patterns. The show concluded with Motta taking to the runway accompanied by her children and employees. The gesture represented her respect for her employees and passion for her family.

Giuliana Romanno

Giuliana Rommanno’s SS14/15 collection was defined by its structure and pattern. Detail was created through woven patterns applied across the garments and with the accessories used. Gold accessories completed the collection, placed around the head like glasses and within the models’ hair. Pants and skirts followed the shape of the body at the hips and then hung loosely over the legs. fluoro watched as Romanno’s colour palette flowed and developed throughout the runway beginning with shades of white and beige, before progressing into reds and coppers and finally black.

Vitorino Campos

Iconic Brazilian designer Vitorino Campos presented a traditional SS14/15 presentation with a selection of all black garments, a style that was seen throughout much of the show. The dark palette was in contrast to the commonly vibrant shades of the season and highlighted Campos’ unique place in Brazilian fashion. Garments were accompanied by a selection of geometric sandals that referenced elements of Japanese Geisha sandals.

Triton

Menswear and womenswear were presented alongside one another at Triton’s SS14/15 collection as Russian Model Irina Shayk opened the show. Designed by Igor de Barris, the menswear garments brought sportswear and casual tailoring to the runway, which were crafted from denim and cotton fabrics. Shirts were worn open with a light coat to cover and accompanied by sandals to ensure the collection remained casual. Triton’s focus on layering throughout the SS14/15 collection drew comparisons to the layers seen in construction of an art piece.

The womenswear garments, designed by Karen Fuke, highlighted the brand’s focus of bringing together fabric research, deconstruction and hand-sculptured accessories. Layers were a focus of the collection, with pleats and ruffles almost coming to life with movement. A selection of prints seen throughout the collection was the work of illustrator and engraver Joris Hoefnagel.

São Paulo Fashion Week continues until Friday 4 April 2014.
