Ernesto Neto at the Faena Arts Center
One of the most important figures in the Brazilian art scene, Ernesto Neto graces centre hall with an abstract installation at the newly opened Faena Arts Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Neto is the heir to the Brazilian art movement known as Neo-Concreto, which for the first time places the spectator at the centre of the creative action, thereby converting physical interaction into a key aspect of his work. Neto’s work is world-renowned being shown in some of the most inspiring galleries and spaces in the world, including MoMA (New York), Guggenheim Museum (New York), MNAM Centro George Pompidou (Paris) and the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea (Rome).
“Created with the will to promote and generate the interaction of ideas, artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary research, Faena Arts Center begins its journey in Buenos Aires with a mission to construct a space that encompasses the best conditions for art and the most free and daring forms of creativity. We chose Ernesto Neto to inaugurate the central hall because the wonderful air of freedom, creativity and play that characterizes his work succeeds in representing the vision of the transformative power of art that motivates and inspires the creation of this centre.” Ximena Caminos, Executive Director, Faena Arts Center.
Ernesto Neto’s exhibition runs until February 2012 at the Faena Arts Center’s Cathedral Room.
