The Little Black Jacket
The iconic image of the little black jacket has transcended the fashion cycle. CHANEL, the progenitors of the movement, officially opened ‘The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL’s Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld’ on Monday 21 March 2012 in Tokyo, Japan.
Over two floors, the exhibition showcases 113 prints depicting celebrities and personalities wearing the iconic CHANEL little black jacket design. Joining Karl Lagerfeld, guests included actress Kiko Mizuhara, architect Junya Ishigami, models Saskia de Brauw, Stella Tenant, Saki Asamiya and Rina Ota, artists Yi Zhou, Ellie and Asami Kiyokama, jewellery designer Harumi De Rola, CHANEL ambassadors Vanessa Paradis, Alice Dellal, Zhou Xun and Gaspard Ulliel and actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Clémence Poésy and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey.
“The CHANEL jacket has become the symbol of a certain elegance, feminine, with an air of nonchalance, classic and timeless, that is of all times.” – Karl Lagerfeld.
‘The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL’s Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld’ is on at Minomi Aoyama, Minato-Ku, Tokyo, Japan, from Saturday 24 March to Sunday 13 April 2012.
