Backwater Blues and Roots Festival
Now in its fifth year and spanning over 10 days, the Backwater Blues and Roots Festival is back and expanding into various areas across South Australia.
This year will see 13 gigs, with seven major acts, being played across six venues at Mt.Gambier, Whyalla, Lobethal, Willunga and McLaren Vale whilst also creating a pop up presence at the Queens Theatre in the centre of Adelaide. The venues span from the lawns of Fox Creek Winery to intimate pubs with rustic food, there is even a harmonica workshop and chili cook off.
The festival has an organic focus, which has helped gain the support of the South Australian public, ensuring its success.
Event organisers Andrew Dundon and Rob Eyers along with Meral Nieman, Tanya Schroeder, Emily Rice, Jacob Habner and the SA Blues and Roots community, are thrilled their idea of the festival –initially derived over a “couple of beers”– has now grown into something of this magnitude.
Acts include Mia Dyson, Backsliders, Jeff Lang, Collard Greens and Gravy, Pugsley Buzzard, Dallas Frasca and Mojo Webb Band.
The festival will take place from Friday 19 October to Sunday 28 October. Tickets can be purchased online at www.backwaterbluesfest.com
