The Realism of Andreas Gursky
Through his contemporary photography, Andreas Gursky presents a new approach to realism.
Internationally renowned photographic artist Andreas Gursky will showcase many new pieces, offering an unusual perspective in a collection of large-scale works. Capturing modern architecture, vast landscapes and intricate interiors, Gursky uses a multitude of shots, elaborately condensing these to become one integral composition.
Reflecting on his work, Gursky comments “What I do it is not purely photography… all my pictures draw from direct visual experience, from which I develop a present idea, which is then tried and tested in the studio in terms of worthiness of being used for a picture, and finally developed and rendered precise on the computer.”
The exhibition also includes a journey through Gursky’s previous works, covering his iconic pieces from the 1980’s to his recent series ‘Bangkok’.
Andreas Gursky will be exhibiting until Sunday 13 January 2013 at Museum Kunstpalast in Dusseldorf, Germany.
