A Change of Scale
London based design collective Studio Roso are debuting their furniture collection in Milan this week.
Fusing their interest in architecture, art and design, Studio Roso, produce large-scale poetic installations, which range from public art and commissions.
The launch of a furniture collection represents a new venture into an intimate and domestic scale which extends thematically from the studio’s larger projects.
Including three major pieces the furniture collection is simultaneously sculptural, playful and dynamic. Circle Light has a strong bond between its form and the projected circular light spot – like planet earth and the moon. Consisting of two layers of perforated brass the Moire Sidetable appears dynamic when one moves around it.
The apparently simple Circus Sideboard hides a secret – as a door slides from left to right, it changes colour and pattern depending on the side of view.
Founded in 2008 Studio Roso is an inter-disciplinary practice that is influenced by environments and craftsmanship. Their work plays with the ephemeral qualities of nature; the fleeting moments of reflection light and shade.
Studio Roso’s pieces will be on display at Ventura Lambrate, Milan, Italy until Sunday 14 April 2013.
