His First Balenciaga Collection
Alexander Wang’s anticipated debut for Balenciaga at Paris Fashion Week, saw the detail, structure and colour palette, Wang is renowned for, shine.
Muted colours, oversized structured jackets and intricate fabrics formed the basis of the Ready to Wear AW13 collection. Much of the detail of the collection was achieved through textures such as voluminous leather jackets with striking fabric manipulation. Structured dresses with angled shoulders and cut outs accentuated an architectural style for the collection. The minimal colour palette has become synonymous with Wang’s designs, whilst the sculptured cuts reflected the history of the Balenciaga brand.
Alexander Wang launched his first full Ready to Wear collection in 2007, which evolved from a collection that predominantly began in knitwear. He also has a line of basics under the brand T by Alexander Wang.
Wang was announced as the new Creative Director of the iconic fashion house Balenciaga in November 2012.
