A platform for some of the world’s best in design, Salone Internazionale del Mobile returns for another year. Taking place in Milan, Italy the fair has become an industry-wide benchmark for originality, change and visibility.
The Salone made its first appearance in 1961 and was designed to promote Italian furniture and furnishing accessories to an international market. To this day, the event continues to promote the best design to all corners of the globe.
In 2012, the Salone was attended by 292,370 trade operators; 188,579 people from outside of Italy; 39,279 members of the Italian general public and 6,484 communication operators. This year looks to continue the fair’s growth and influence.

Marni’s 2013 edition of 100 chairs: Returning for another year, ex-prisoners in Columbia using salvaged metal and multi-colored PVC threads to make 100 Chairs, incorporating woven patterns and bright combinations.
Mathieu Gustafsson and Niklas Karlsson: The Swedish duo were inspired by handbags for their cabinet collection; details such as the brass clasp locks are reminiscent of a clutch purse.
Nina Tolstrup for Marc Jacobs: The launch of Tolstrup’s collection, sees matching block colours create a connection between garment and furniture.
Ron Gilad and Molteni&C: Israeli artist Ron Gilad with Molteni&C have created an installation at Salvatore Ferragamo’s store using his Grado° collection.
Salone Internazionale del Mobile is exhibited from Tuesday 9 April until Sunday 14 April 2013.
