From contemporary art, music and film to furniture and lighting, this weekend will see New York alive with art and design. fluoro shares a selection of the approaching notable art and design fairs.
Housed in a bespoke temporary structure, the second edition of Frieze New York will see a selection of over 180 of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries bring an international focus to the dynamic contemporary art scene in New York. Concentrating on current practicing artists, Frieze New York is not limited to visual art, also celebrating a series of curated audio works. Frieze New York will run from Friday 10 May until Monday 13 May 2013, at Randall’s Island Park. www.friezenewyork.com
New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a New York based not-for-profit collective of professionals working with contemporary art. Their fairs work towards their goals of making art more accessible to the general public and encouraging the growth of emerging artists and curators. Held annually in April, May and December the fairs are free. NADA NYC takes place from Friday 10 May until Monday 13 May 2013. www.newartdealers.org
Solely dedicated to contemporary art, PULSE is held annually in New York and Miami. A component of the fair, PULSE Play, is a curated video and technology lounge that includes work from both emerging and established artists. PULSE will run until until Sunday 12 May 2013. www.pulse-art.com
Handpicked by a jury of editors from leading design magazines, BRKYLN DESIGNS showcases a selection of locally based designers who have created an internationally known legacy with their work.
