Bottega Veneta: The Art Of Collaboration
Bottega Veneta looked to iconic photographer Ralph Gibson for the creation of their AW13/14 campaign.
The AW13/14 collection is both graphic and transformative. The palette is deep and filled with black, grey, blue, plum and pearl white, touches of cool green and muted bronze, as well as vibrant red, yellow. The look is polished and precise and presents a women’s silhouette that places emphasis on volume placed alongside a men’s silhouette that is exceptionally sharp and tailored. Unexpected combinations and considerations of materials not commonly used for garments of this nature are seen throughout the collection.
Ralph Gibson is best known for surreal images that exude a combination of tension and barely contained energy. He is also known for his photographic books that he has been making since the 1970s. His bold, graphic style is as unmistakable as it is influential and he continues to inspire with international exhibitions and his published works.
Bottega Veneta was founded in Vicenza in 1966. The campaign is part of Bottega Veneta’s ongoing series of creative collaborations featuring the talents of outstanding artists. The collaborative project with Gibson was shot in Milan, Italy.
