Alexander McQueen AW13/14
Photography highlights a dark side of Alexander McQueen’s AW13/14 collection. Religion and royalty meet in a ghostly set of images for the AW13/14 campaign.
The campaign adds drama to the theatrical collection in a striking set of compositions. The stern expressions of the models and black and white photography create a sense of tension. High contrast lighting places emphasis on the meticulous pattern work seen within the collection, accentuating the pearls against the darker background.
The ecclesiastical AW13/14 collection utilises the shapes of traditionally religious costumes, such as communion gowns, bishop robes along with patterns seen on the architecture of the church itself. The striking garments are heavily embellished with pearls and are cinched at the waistline to create structure and shape. A reference to Elizabethan costume is seen in each outfit through the inclusion of a ruff.
The campaign was directed by iconic photographer David Sims.
