Curitiba International Biennial

Curitiba International Biennial in Brazil celebrates its 20th year by involving the entire city of Curitiba for the first time. The 2013 Biennial will celebrate art that is not restricted to the museums and art galleries, but which instead occupies urban space.

This year’s Biennial features works by artists from five continents in more than 100 spaces around the city. This edition aims to provoke people in a different way, giving urban art and performance art special attention, offering direct and immediate contact with the community. Art will filter into urban environments, helping to fulfill the role of leaving a lasting heritage beyond the exhibition period.

Among the artists on display are Ai Weiwei, Antoni Abad, Luis Felipe Noé, Katharina Grosse, Peter Kubelka, and Regina Silveira.

The Curitiba International Biennial runs from Saturday 31 August until Tuesday 31 December 2013 in public locations and cultural centres across Curitiba, Brazil.
