Home Sweet Home
An exhibition titled ‘Home Sweet Home’ celebrates furniture displayed the way it was intended to be seen. Within the home.
The exhibition transforms Liljevalchs, Stockholm into an artistic interpretation of a home, with 12 different spaces each exploring a different room of the home. Encompassing furniture, lighting, textiles and art, visitors are given the opportunity to immerse themselves into different design movements. The exhibition displays pieces from influential designers around the globe.
Two living rooms feature within the exhibition – one a Bauhaus focused space containing modernist pieces, while the other takes a Swedish focus that is designed in the style of Estrid Ericson and Josef Frank. There are also two kitchens that have an Italian and Nordic aesthetic, while Charles and Ray Eames inspire ‘The Studio’ space.
The structure of the exhibition encourages individuals to take a ‘do it yourself’ attitude and places an emphasis on providing a platform for inspiration rather than celebrating consumption.
An insight into the ‘Liljevalchs house’ is not unlike Scandinavian living, where the inside of the home can often be seen from the street.
‘Home Sweet Home’ is on display until Sunday 15 September 2013 at Liljevalchs, Stockholm, Sweden.
