Nile Rodgers and Chic
Acclaimed disco band Chic and Nile Rodgers are set to bring their distinct groove rhythms to Australia for a national tour.
The 1970s saw the disco genre dominated by producers, Chic chose to present themselves differently and focused on being perceived as a band. Chic bucked the trend by stripping disco’s sound down to its basic elements. Chic’s funky, stylish grooves had an organic sense of interplay that was missing from many of their overproduced competitors.
Chic’s distinctive approach has not only resulted in some of the finest dance singles of their time, but has also helped create a template for urban funk, dance-pop and hip-hop. Their influence continues today and earlier this year Rodgers collaborated with Daft Punk on their 2013 release titled Random Access Memories.
