Alessi: The Beauty and the Mastery
In the last days of the London Design Festival we look to an installation that offers a behind the scenes insight into creating the beauty of Alessi.
Many objects are simply part of everyday life; in the comforting setting of the home they are used with little attention to their features. Then there are objects, which somehow make commonplace gestures more pleasing, more straightforward and more personal. Alessi’s objects are an example of the latter, known for their fine craftsmanship and design excellence.
The installation titled, ‘Alessi made in Crusinallo. The Beauty and the Mastery’ provides visitors a rare insight into production processes and machine skills of the brand, told through key pieces from the Alessi. It demonstrates the creativity and technology that goes into making every Alessi object.
Reminiscent of Alessi’s workshops in Crusinallo, Italy, pieces are displayed in their production cages. ‘Household Goods factory’, a film on the factory seen through the eyes of Turkish video artist Ali Kazma will be screened throughout the Festival.
‘Alessi made in Crusinallo. The Beauty and the Mastery’ is on display until Sunday 22 September at the V&A Museum, London.
