Classic, Warm, Innovative: Burberry SS14
Burberry has presented their SS14 collection, titled English Rose, at London Fashion Week.
The classic collection featured feminine silhouettes, with a selection of soft chesterfields and pencil skirts that hugged the female frame. Christopher Bailey noted that he wanted the collection to “have a crafted feeling,” which was achieved through the use of macramé and English lace in rose pinks and lavender shades. The footwear was vibrant in contrast to the garments; rubber strap shoes were presented in shades of bright pink
The show was also a celebration of Burberry Beauty, the label’s beauty line. This was the first womenswear show since the brand brought the category in-house. The SS14 make-up look and next season’s Burberry Nails collection were unveiled. The Burberry Beauty SS14 collection will launch in January 2014.
Burberry, in its true digital form, collaborated with Apple for the duration of the show to use the iPhone 5s to capture and share photos and video footage of the collection with the globe.
The London Fashion Week runway concluded with a soft sprinkling of rose petals falling from the roof onto the catwalk and crowd, a gesture that captured the English Rose title.
