Colette and Alchemist: Art Drive Thru
Colette and Alchemist’s pop up ‘Art Drive Thru’ is a place where luxury items are purchased in a fast and convenient way. The project is a collaboration between Paris based boutique Colette and innovative Miami retailer Alchemist, as part of Art Basel Miami.
The space diversifies the experience of engaging with art, fashion and design throughout Art Basel. Just as ordering from a fast food menu, visitors are able to order from a virtual menu. Items are delivered to the car by waitresses on roller-skates and participants are able to drive away, items in hand without having left their vehicle.
The project includes pieces from a selection of contemporary brands and artists including Zaha Hadid, Karl Lagerfeld, Ai Weiwei, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst.
Alchemist is located on the fifth level of the iconic multi-purpose car park 1111 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, Florida, USA, a structure designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. The pop up space has been created adjacent to the retailer and was designed by Rene Gonzalez Architect, who also envisioned the interior of Alchemist.
Colette and Alchemist’s pop up ‘Art Drive Thru’ is open until Sunday 8 December 2013.
