A landmark sale sees the personal collection of Elsa Schiaparelli offered at auction in Paris, France.
The collection comes to the market having passed by descent to Elsa Schiaparelli’s granddaughter, actress Marisa Schiaparelli Berenson. With passion and extraordinary vision, the legendary Madame Elsa Schiaparelli – a deadly rival of Coco Chanel – was at the heart of avant-garde ideas in 1930s Paris.
The auction includes garments from Schiaparelli’s personal collection, her own designs and personal pieces of furniture, fine and decorative arts.
The auction of Elsa Schiaparelli’s personal collection will take place at Christies, 9 avenue Matignon Paris on Thursday 23 January 2014. The auction coincides with Marco Zanini’s first collection for Schiaparelli as Creative Director, which will be shown at this month’s Haute Couture collections at Paris Fashion Week. He was announced Creative Director to Schiaparelli in September 2013.
