Le Temps Suspendu
Le Temps Suspendu (Handmade with love in France) is a documentary that celebrates the artisans whose rare craftsmanship supports the Haute Couture industry.
The film focuses on three ateliers: Monsieur Lognon, who focuses his practice on pleat making, originally learning the trade from his father and grandfather; Monsieur Legeron, an artificial flower maker whose creations verge on lifelike; and Monsieur Ré, who is one of the last in the world to practice sculpting wooden hat forms.
Exploring the dying art of artisans who make by hand, the film contrasts the speed of fashion today, by highlighting that there are places in fashion where “time still matters”. The crafts of each of the ateliers have taken them many years to refine and are time consuming in their practice. Their expertise has seen all three ateliers refrain from implementing modern technologies.
Le Temps Suspendu is directed by French filmmaker Julie Georgia Bernard.
