D’Angelo’s First Release in 14 Years
Iconic jazz artist D’Angelo has released three previously unheard tracks, making this his first in 14 years.
The tracks come as part of the re-released album Live at the Jazz Café, London: The Complete Show. Originally made available to the Japanese market in 1996, the album and collectors item has been released globally. The original six tracks have been expanded for this release and now totals 11.
The unheard releases include D’Angelo’s cover of Al Green’s I’m Still in Love with You on his live cut I’m Glad You’re Mine. The album also includes a cover of the Ohio Players’ Sweet Sticky Thing and a new version of Jonz in My Bonz from his 1995 album Brown Sugar.
D’Angelo has forged his place within the greats of Jazz, known for adding to the neo soul movement. His strength as an artist is highlighted in the tracks pertinence to today, both lyrically and stylistically.
