FADfest 2014
The vibrant and innovative city of Barcelona hosts the fourth edition of FADfest.
The festival aims to bridge the gap between professional design and the people who engage with it, featuring a range of disciplines that include architecture, interior design, graphic design, advertising, industrial design, the handicrafts, art and fashion. A range of workshops, film screenings, talks and conferences provide visitors to the festival with an immersive design experience. See below for a selection of fluoro’s picks from the festival.
Open Design / Shared Creativity
The 3rd edition of the international conference Open Design / Shared Creativity will explore the fast-paced impact of digital technologies on creativity and those working in creative professions. The conference provides an open discussion of the latest innovations in the digital world. Open Design / Shared Creativity will take place on Monday 30 June and Tuesday 1 July 2014.
Typo Week
With the focus on all things related to type, fonts and typography the conference explores not only the developments in typography, but also the way it impacts on people’s lives. Typo Week brings together a range of individuals and studios to discuss their work and is supported by a number of exhibitions and round table discussions. Typo Week takes place from Wednesday 2 – Saturday 5 July 2014.
Eugeni Quitllet
One of the most renowned designers from the Catalan area, Quitllet has spent much of his career working closely with Philippe Starck. Quitllet’s recent designs have included cutlery for Air France, a range of jugs for Kartell and an armchair for Alias. The designer will discuss his work in a seminar on Tuesday 8 July 2014.
e-Textiles
A hands-on workshop will allow participants to create interactive garments and explore the world of e-Textiles. The workshop takes place on Friday 27 June 2014.
FADexpo: The Best Design Of The Year
To accompany the festival an exhibition titled FADexpo: The Best Design Of The Year presents over 500 winning and shortlisted projects. The projects highlight the diverse cultural and creative landscape of Barcelona and are a snapshot of the current styles and techniques. FADexpo remains on display beyond the duration of the festival until
