Milan Fashion Week: Day Two
fluoro looks to the highlights of the SS15 Menswear collections from day two of Milan Fashion Week, which ranged from the vibrant and patterned, to the structured and modernist.
Bottega Veneta
Bottega Veneta’s SS15 Menswear collection was casual and light, yet not without elegance. Opening with a selection of navy and black knits as the garments were presented their lightness increased, finishing with a selection of pastel garments. Sweatshirts, bomber jackets and cropped trousers saw Bottega Veneta subtly evoke athleticism and sport throughout the collection.
Salvatore Ferragamo
A modernist look was achieved throughout this SS15 Menswear collection. The colour palette heavily featured shades of burgundy and blue, which were often worn together. Patterned shirts were a highlight and were paired with matching ties, blending the two garments together. While a series of blue and burgundy loafer sandals evoked the connection to the SS15 season.
Presented against a backdrop of constructed panels, the décor highlighted the garment’s own architecture.
Missoni
Missoni’s SS15 Menswear collection was heavily centred on the use of pattern bringing across the DNA of the House of Missoni. Evoking the visual language of Mexican design, subtle connections to Aztec patterns could be seen throughout the garments and footwear. Knitting was used in abundance, achieving tone and pattern as colours were blended. While blue, burgundy and tan chunky woven sandals confirmed the reference to Mexican design. Shirts and jackets were worn open over a bare chest, added to bohemian message of the collection.
Prada
Retaining the structured style Prada is known for, the luxury house did not stray from this aesthetic in their SS15 Menswear collection. Suits were worn with exposed stitching, further highlighting the structure of the garments and a connection to their construction. Denim was used throughout and formed the basis of both suits and loose trousers. As they have done in the past, Prada presented a selection of women’s garments throughout the menswear collection.
Antonio Marras
Presented outdoors on a basketball court, the Antonio Marras SS15 Menswear collection was full of energy. A selection of shirts held graphic prints with images of footballs, a reference to the FIFA World Cup currently taking place in Brazil. Other garments also referenced the colours of Brazil with yellow and green used throughout. A floral pattern in burgundy and green was notably striking and was applied to pants and shirts, which were worn together.
