MoMA: Bjork Retrospective
The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York has announced the presentation of a full-scale retrospective dedicated to the multifaceted work of the Icelandic composer, musician and artist Bjork.
The exhibition titled Björk draws from more than 20 years of the artist’s daring and adventurous projects through sound, film, visuals, instruments, objects, costumes, and performance, including her seven full-length albums — from Debut (1993) to the most recent Biophilia (2011). The exhibition will present a narrative, both biographical and imaginatively fictitious, co-written by Björk and acclaimed Icelandic writer Sjón Sigurds
Björk’s collaborations with video directors, photographers, fashion designers and artists will be featured throughout the exhibition. A newly commissioned, immersive music and film experience culminates the exhibition and was conceived by director Andrew Thomas Huang and 3-D design leader Autodesk.
“Björk is an extraordinarily innovative artist whose contributions to contemporary music, video, film, fashion, and art have had a major impact on her generation worldwide,” said Klaus Biesenbach, Chief Curator. “This highly experimental exhibition offers visitors a direct experience of her hugely collaborative body of work.”
Björk will be on view from Saturday 7 March until Sunday 7 June 2015 at MoMA.
