Valentino: New York Store
On New York’s Fifth Avenue, Italian luxury house Valentino has just opened its largest global store.
The store assumes the site of the former Takashimaya department store, resulting in over 20,000 square feet of floor-space. Along with Valentino collections, the store presents the largest selection of Valentino Garavani accessories and the availability of made-to-measure denim.
Valentino enlisted renowned British architect David Chipperfield to design the space, who has been working with the brand since 2012. The eight-story façade of the post-modern building has been redesigned and constructed from steel and glass. Chipperfield’s design for the Valentino space references the aesthetic of his museum and gallery projects, such as the Museo Jumex. Space is used in abundance to allow the garments to speak for themselves.
The opening of the store marks Valentino’s second in New York and 13th in the USA.
