From New York to London
Today marks the conclusion of the SS15 Ready to Wear season in New York, with the season continuing to its next stop. London.
We look to two collections from the final days of New York Fashion Week that captured the essence and aesthetic of the brand they represented.
Naeem Khan
The Indian-American designer momentarily moved away from his evening garments to open his collection with a series of sports inspired pieces that were youthful and fun. Retaining the detail that is so inherently Naeem Khan, the garments were highly embellished, shining as they were presented on the runway. The show then transitioned into formal eveningwear that represented a more familiar aesthetic for the designer. Floral motifs were abundant in the collection, as have been seen throughout the New York Fashion Week at shows such as Desigual and Dennis Basso.
Clover Canyon
Oriental inspired, Clover Canyon’s SS15 collection brought the shapes of traditional Asian garments into the current season. Jackets referenced the shapes of a kimono and white and black sashes belted jackets and dresses. The use of gold was a decorative element applied boldly to garments in blocks. The collection highlighted the brand’s philosophy of treating their designs as a vessel for journey.
