Picasso and the Camera
Picasso and the Camera, a new exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in New York will explore how Picasso used photography as more than a source of inspiration but as an integral part of his work.
Curated by Picasso biographer John Richardson the exhibition will span 60 years and include many never been seen or published images that were taken by Picasso, as well as related paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints and files. Together these mediums will provide an insight into Picasso’s relationship with the camera.
Picasso and the Camera is the fifth series of major Picasso surveys, following Mosqueteros (2009), Picasso: The Mediterranean Years (1945-1962), Picasso and Marie-Thérèse: L’amour fou (2011) and Picasso and Françoise Gilot: Paris-Vallauris 1943-1953 (2012).
Opening today, at the Gagosian Gallery in New York, the exhibition will run until Saturday 3 January 2015.
