Interview with EVA & ADELE
Flamboyant, audacious, eccentric and highly artistic from the core of their existence to their outer appearance. We are talking about EVA & ADELE, the Berlin-based artistic powerhouse who continue to change perceptions in gender, identity and art.
Claiming to be from the future themselves, the contemporary artist couple coined the term Futuring in 1991 turning future into a verb to refer to an unfinished time that is in the process of developing and revealing itself. Being the foundation for everything they do, Futuring, challenges people to take an active role in shaping their own future such as the artists themselves do in every aspect of their lives.
In one of their most recent projects EVA & ADELE teamed up with Swatch to create a new Swatch Art Special, titled Futuring by Eva & Adele. In every feature, from its colours to the words printed on the dial, the watch seems to reflect the flamboyant duo acting as proof of how the couple transforms all they touch into bright and colourful art.
fluoro spoke with EVA & ADELE about their role in the world of art, the ways in which they represent freedom and their partnership with Swatch. To bring you the essence of the artists, each and every word is left in it’s original form as the interview was taken, in the duo’s widely known Denglisch (German English). For those who wonder if the spelling is a tad peculiar, rest assured it isn’t. It’s EVA & ADELE.
