Maison Margiela: Milan Boutique
We take you on a tour of the newly opened Maison Margiela Milan boutique.
The new boutique is split over two floors with a total of 300-square metres dedicated to womenswear and accessories. In line with the House’s signature style, the space is designed with modern minimalism featuring bright white as the dominant colour across the store.
The boutique’s interiors combine elegant classical touches with contemporary clean lines, materials and effects. A unique flexible wooden fabric, made from plywood triangles, was designed by Italian company Wood-Skin to dress the ground floor and the service counter, which also functions as a testing space for fragrances. The same material forms a parted curtain around the lift shaft creating a modern interpretation of heavy curtains.
The first floor, dedicated to the John Galliano designed Haute Couture collection, forms an elegant space with glass cabinets and mirrored dressing rooms.
Trompe-l’oeil effects across the first floor create an optical illusion of three-dimensional ceiling mouldings and wood panelling. Even the grey carpets on the floor carry the same style, giving depth to the space and transferring Parisian elegance and Haussmannian style to Italy.
A selection of jewellery is presented in glass vitrines with mirrored bases while sunglasses are showcased in a display formed by a glass wall in front of a chandelier.
In a different style than the rest of the first floor space, a white tile washroom is filled with plants giving the impression of a little private garden or balcony.
The new Maison Margiela boutique is location at Via Sant’Andrea 5 in Milan, Italy.
