Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015

Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015 is fast approaching to once again turn the city of Madrid into the world capital of contemporary art.

This year marks the sixth edition of the grand festival and features more than 50 artists and 45 exhibits. An initiative of the 45 contemporary art galleries that comprise the association Arte_Madrid, Apertura is an invitation to the public to explore the city in a different way and discover the most recent contemporary creations within the Spanish art world.

Spanning across three days, the festival will see the galleries extend their opening hours with a program of special activities to bring the latest artworks to the general public.

Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015 will showcase art across various disciplines including installations, paintings, photography and sculpture from a wide range of emerging as well as established contemporary artists. These include Santiago Giralda, Aggtelek, Flor Garduño and Aleksandar Duravcevic.

While the focus is contemporary Spanish art, the festival will also cover some of the great masters of twentieth century art such as Pablo Picasso as well as some works by international contemporary artists including Elmgreen & Dragset, Otto Zitko and Mathias Goeritz.

Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015 will take place in Madrid, Spain from Thursday 10 September – Saturday 12 September 2015.
